Welcome to the Croatian Benevolent Association’s home page. The Croatian Benevolent Association (formerly known as the United Slavonian Benevolent Association of New Orleans) was organized in 1874 by fifty-four Slavonians (Croatians) to serve the needs of a growing number of Croatian immigrants to the New Orleans area. The organization was founded to foster, protect and promote the welfare and interests of its members and their families, primarily through providing burial and medical benefits to its members in need. Over time, the needs of its members have changed, and its purpose and mission have evolved to better serve its members and the local Croatian-American community. Recently, the Croatian Benevolent Association announced that it will sponsor a college scholarship program to provide partial scholarship benefits to eligible applicants within the local Croatian American community. With this scholarship program and committed leadership, the Croatian Benevolent Association continues as a vibrant and integral part of the local Croatian-American community.
